Pacific Office opens at Wellington campus

A formal ceremonial and multicultural celebration was held at the University of Otago, Wellington in July, to mark the official opening of the school's first Pacific Office.

 

Your Story - Messages from Myanmar

The University's 150th anniversary has rekindled memories for Otago alumni from around the world. Recollections sent to the alumni office include a first-hand account from mining graduates from Burma (now Myanmar) who were students at the School of Mines in the 1950s.

A ray of sunshine landed in Dunedin in August with the arrival of the newly-released Otago University 150th anniversary rose.

The eye-catching yellow hybrid tea rose was developed by Glenavon rose breeder Rob Somerfield.

Why We Otago

The University of Otago has created a new tradition – inviting doctoral students to ring the University bell when they submit the hard copy of their PhD.

The tradition began in March, and is proving popular.
