Otago grads shine at award show

Half the winners of this year's Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year awards are Otago alumni. Professor Bill Glass, Kendall Flutey, and Ian Taylor were each recognised for their achievements.

Summer research programme a hit

Over the summer, while many students were hitting the beach, 80 mainly second, third or fourth-year Otago students were in the lab working as summer research students.

Carole McArthur – on a mission

For a long time now, Carole McArthur has been on a mission. From growing up in South Otago, she has taken her interest in immunology and combined it with her drive to help people with HIV.

 

Your Story - Cheerfulness the anchor of 100 well-lived years

In 1937, Wilma McLennan, aged 17, left her home in Wellington and travelled south to Dunedin, to begin her degree in Home Science at Otago.

2019 commenced with a variety of events for alumni and the public to enjoy as the University launched into its 150th anniversary. It will continue to be a busy year, with many exciting and inclusive celebrations planned for every month of 2019.

Picnic launches celebrations

The sun shone and town definitely came to gown in February, when Dunedin residents and their families set up picnics, played games and listened to music on the Clocktower Lawn for the public launch of the University's 150th anniversary.
