For 50 years the University's much-loved Clocktower building didn't live up to its name.

Built in 1879, the tower was without a clock until the early 1930s.

We Otago - Magnolia tree

The tree, located in the Quad between the Department of Geology and the Clocktower, was planted in 1965 by Geoff Baylis, Head of the Department of Botany from 1945 to 1979, and is now dedicated to his memory.
