The University of Otago Foundation Trust and the University of Otago itself are approved donee organisations in New Zealand. Resident taxpayers donating to an approved donee organisation may receive a 33.3 per cent tax credit on their donation. See the IRD website for more details.

With many Otago alumni, friends, past and current donors resident overseas, the University of Otago has a number of Trusts to allow in-country tax benefits. Find out more here.

The University of Otago utilises third parties to provide a payments processing service for donations.

Bambora (NZ) Ltd, Blackbaud and Westpac are PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant.

All amounts mentioned on this website are in New Zealand dollars only, and processed in New Zealand dollars only ($NZ).

This website accepts credit card transactions (Visa and Mastercard) of one-off and regular (monthly) donations. We also offer direct bank transfers. If you would prefer to discuss your support for the University in person you can contact Shelagh Murray, Director

The University of Otago will refund all donations made that are fraudulent due to unauthorised use of a credit card. In all other circumstances, refunds of donations will be at the discretion of the University of Otago.

Refunds are returned using the original method of payment. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card.


Donation Receipts

The University of Otago will send a donation tax receipt to your email and/or postal address for one-off donations. For monthly donations, the University of Otago will send a confirmation of monthly gift and a consolidated donation tax receipt at the end of the tax year.
