Court of Convocation

What is the Court of Convocation?

The sole purpose of the Court is to elect three of its members to the University Council. These representatives will have an active role on Council, being part of a team of up to 20 members working together in the interests of the University.

Elections are held every four years and are run under statutory requirements set down in the Election of Members of the Council Statute 2011. The next election will be held in 2014.

Who is eligible to vote?

You are eligible to vote if you are:

  • on the Register of the Court of Convocation of the University of Otago on 8 September 1998; or

  • a graduate of the University of Otago; or

  • a holder of a diploma of the University of Otago for which not less than three years of full-time study was required under the regulations in force at the time of the award.
